Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences.
This article was intentionality vague regarding what was said that the the Lt. Gov found objectionable. If it was simply expressing disagreement with his politics, than sure, the state passed a red line. But if he was slandering his anme, than there should be consequences.
@kpeace The statement of censure gave no specifics, and Dr. Alonzo was subsequently cleared (even though there was no accusation to "clear" her of).
The faculty senate is more to blame than the Lt. Governor. It seems like a case where he said, "Will no one rid me of this troublesome professor?" and they jumped to comply.
