Doom was a run and gun / action packed shooter whereas Doom 3 was an atmospheric survival horror game. I think were things went wrong is calling it Doom. If it had a different name no one would care but with the Doom name comes expectations. This is why little to no one complained about the <a href="https://liberdon.com/tags/Doom2016" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Doom2016</span></a> release as it met those expectations.
