At work, we intentionally pry the seals out of certain bearings and pump Royal Purple grease into them. Then, we reinstall the seals. We’ve yet to have one fail. I even designed and <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/3dPrinted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>3dPrinted</span></a> a greasing jig hold the bearing and distribute the grease evenly.</p><p>I can’t tell you how many times I’ve pried seals out of bike bearings, smeared Phil Wood waterproof grease into them, and reinstalled the seals.</p>
