@CryptoSwinger Filtering these out using "[bot]" didn't work for me. I am noticing a github issue on this topic: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/8293
As a new user, bot content is probably my least favorite part of #Mastodon.
@CryptoSwinger huh, I'm wondering the same thing... maybe a filter?
@h4890 Besides listening to these podcasts, I will very often follow the guest speakers they bring on to the shows on Twitter. Next best thing besides subscribing to one of their newsletters like https://themacrotourist.com/.
A few examples: @EPBResearch, @SuperMugatu, @JulietteJDI, @clkleinmonaco, @htsfhickey, @TaviCosta, @jam_croissant, @vol_christopher, @mtmalinen, @kevinmuir, and @profplum99.
I'm in a ton of meetings everyday and I'm always looking for tools to optimize time. Calendly (https://calendly.com/) has been a huge help in helping me schedule meetings without the back-and-forth emails.
Another meeting related app that has been equally help but that you may be less familiar with is called Fellow.
Fellow (https://fellow.app/) is a meeting workspace for teams who want to organize their team meetings, 1-on-1s, notes, action items, and feedback – all in one place.

I'm sure this has been said many times before, but ultimately the success of any alternative social network will be a result of the people on that network and the quality/value of the content they post to it. I believe it's less about the software and more about the people and the time they invest into posting quality content.

Yesterday, I thought I'd take crack at giving Mastodon - https://joinmastodon.org/ another try. Two quick tips for Twitter users:
1) Install Birdsite - https://gitlab.com/pmorinerie/birdsite so you can cross post to Twitter & Mastodon
2) Use Twidere - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mariotaku.twidere&hl=en_US&gl=US so you can see both your Twitter feed and Mastodon feed mixed in together
At least for me, this is a good transitionary step.
@billblake2018 yes, I think this is a key aspect to focus reform efforts on - police unions.
@thedesertlynx Thanks, it is important to consider life's brevity. I'm trying to live by these words from CS Lewis: "Die before you die, there is no chance after.”
@patrissimo And those who can't control themselves try to control others instead.
Anyone else remember the dark ages of the web?
@AtlasFreeman - sad and troubling
"Once all Americans could recite basic information about race riots and redlining, then somehow, wealthy and influential people would open the financial floodgates and heal black America? In most other contexts, one is to dismiss cynically the possibility of this ever happening, since whites, as the thinking goes, are determined to hold on to their privilege. How would a national history lesson or conversation change that?" https://www.city-journal.org/html/case-moving-11400.html
