If Congress impeaches and removes Trump, the Republicans could still nominate him in 2020. He's got enough control over the party, and opposition is fragmented enough, that he might be able to make it happen.


@gmcgath The Constitution allows the Senate to bar a removed person from holding any or all federal offices.

@billblake2018 You're right. Applicable penalties are "removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States."

@gmcgath In the unlikely event that Trump is removed, I would hope they bar him from further office, in order to save themselves further embarrassment and blackmail.
